When to replace your brake pads

Brake pads wear with every stop and their life depends heavily on driving style: in city traffic they may last 30,000 km, on the motorway twice as long.

Typical signs are a metallic squeal when braking (the wear indicator), vibrations in the pedal, a longer pedal travel than usual or the pad wear warning light on the dashboard.

Always replace pads in pairs on the same axle and check the disc thickness: if the discs are below the manufacturer's minimum they must be replaced together with the pads.

To be sure you pick the right part, search by chassis number (VIN): we only show the pads that fit your car.
